Ash Wednesday 2022- Lent begins!

Ash Wednesday Mass times at the Friary 10am & 6.15pm. Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence for Catholics. We refrain from eating meat and we cut back on the amount we eat as an act of penance.
Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent, the holy time of reflection, preparation and re-dedication of ourselves to the spiritual journey of repentance, growth and renewal in the Holy Spirit. Through our acts of prayer and penance we seek to strengthen ourselves in the spiritual combat against sin and evil, and to become more and more shaped into the image of Christ. We are all called to be saints, to become the men and women God created us to be – filled with His grace, free and joyful in the Holy Spirit. So let us hear the voice of Christ telling us with urgency “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:15
